While non-essential training is rapidly gaining traction around the world, there are few
studies and no good theory when it comes to non-essential training appearance in the
literature. With the goal of bringing it on par with the required training. As a result of
systematic literature evaluation, this paper aims to identify elements that, as well as
theoretical gaps, and make recommendations for future research that affect employee
participation in non-essential training programs.
